Psybersafe November 2025 Newsletter
Donuts, reciprocity & cybersecurity

In this issue...

This month, we explore how reciprocity strengthens cybersecurity.  Following the recent cyber-attacks on several London councils' we share practical tips to protect yourself from data breaches. Plus, a special Black Friday offer - valid through December!

Donuts, reciprocity & cybersecurity

Ever noticed how a simple gesture, like offering someone a donut on a rainy Tuesday, can completely change the mood?  This month’s blog dives into the behavioural science of reciprocity and why small, genuine acts of giving can have a big impact on trust, cooperation, and even cyber security.

From the psychology behind "no-strings" gestures, to how going first can quietly increase influence and shape safer habits at work, we explore why giving (freely!) often leads to better security behaviour.

Why the correct training is important

This November three London councils were hit by a cyber-attack and although investigations are still underway, councils have raised their internal cyber-threat alert.  Staff were urgently instructed NOT to open suspicious emails, click unusual links, or respond to unexpected requests and to treat any correspondence with caution, even if it appears to come from a colleague or familiar address.
This is a stark reminder that even organisations with strict security rules can be vulnerable and that human behaviour remains one of the biggest cyber-risks. It shows why cyber-awareness training (like Psybersafe) matters now more than ever.
Data breaches are happening more now than ever before, across the globe, and often we are not even aware that our data has been leaked.

Data Leaks: Your personal early warning system

Data breaches are no longer a question of "if" but "when." The challenge?  Our brains often work against us, downplaying risks or avoiding uncomfortable truths.
Here are three evidence-based tips to help you stay vigilant when your data has been compromised:
